What do you think when hearing about a salt and swimming pools? Some people imagine that adding hundreds of pounds of salt to your pool will turn it into the Pacific Ocean - not true! Fortunately the amount of sodium chloride for swimming sanitization is minimal, and most people do not taste the saltiness at all. The level of saline required for chlorine generators is only about 1/10th the amount of ocean water. For comparison sake, that would be about the concentration found in human tears. A minimum residual of approximately 2700 - 3500ppm is required for generators to work, which translates into a few hundred pounds depending upon the volume of water in your structure. Sounds like alot, but relative to the ocean it's pretty minimal.
