A quality repair kit is essential for our trade.  Silicone, thread compound (e.g. Joint Stick), and Teflon tape fill threaded fittings at the influent and effluent side of a pool pump - where leaks are common.  If the water level inadvertently drops too low, air can enter the system causing steam and shrinkage to the threaded fittings, requiring a replumb. We also carry Teflon or silicone lubricants designed for moving (3-way or Backwash valves) and stationary (filter tank) orings and seals respectively. Whether in Los Feliz, Pacific Palisades or Thousand Oaks, pool repair technicians evolve to leverage the best tools in exchange for lighter carrying weight.  Multipurpose wrenches with 9/16" and 1/2" ends are a good example - most common size bolts.  Multi-tip screw drivers have also proven to be light-weight and timesaving when walking into a backyard. Fortunately, enterprising entrepeneurs introduce innovative designs each year that help us to be successful.
