Tarzana Salt Pool Chlorinator Tips Saline systems have many advantages, yet they require periodic cleaning and additions of salt when depleted. Here are a few tips if you decide to service the cell yourself. Firstly, be sure to consult the manual that came with your system! Always wear rubber gloves and protective eyewear when handling caustic chemicals. Turn off the circulation system before removing the unit from the plumbing apparatus. Fill a five gallon bucket with water and muriatic acid - 3 parts to 1 part respectively - carefully adding acid to water (not the other way around). Use a high pressure hose to wash off any encrustation that you see on the titanium blades. Use a popsicle stick if necessary to get in between the blades and knock off the larger calcium nodules - but be careful not to damage the blades! Soak for approximately 5 to 15 minutes and repeat as necessary - until foaming action stops, and cell appears free of white crystals. Rinse and reinstall. Whether you live in Studio City or Tarzana, salt pool systems are now ubiquitous, and Spectrum repair technicians have become proficient in installation and troubleshooting. There are other tasks besides cell cleaning to insure proper operation. Chemistry for example is important, especially calcium hardness - drain your pool if excessive.
